Report Card Holder

For a lot of us, the new school year has already begun. It won't be long until the first report cards are coming home. So, what do you do with those report cards? If you are like me, you save them - and if you are going to save them, you need a way to store them. Well, I think I have just the thing for that...an "Odd" report card holder!  Take a look...

Back to School!

Since school is starting soon, I decided to re-post a project I did a few years back.  It's a report card file made from a pocket check file.  You can use one devider per school year and have a nice place to store things like school ribbons, report cards, and wallet size school pictures. Originally I came across this idea in a Paper Trends magizine and I still love it. Just change up the pattern papers to fit your style.

Here's how to make the Report Card File:

You will need an expandable pocket check file. You can find them at office supply stores. (Some are plastic, you will want one made of paper.) You will also need pattern paper, adhesive or glue, and a strip of fabric.

Remove the stretchy cord and put it aside for now. Cut about half of the flap off.

 Attach your paper to the front, back, and inside flap. The little elastic band, that we will use later, might rip the paper - so you may want to cover the top with small strip of fabric. I used red.

On the inside of the file, label each devider with a grade.

Punch a hole in the flap and insert an eyelet. This is where the elastic cord will go.

To finish it up, round the corners and decorate it the way you like.
