Minnie Mouse crochet hat

My family was in Walt Disney World about a week ago, and I am missing it so bad.  The sights, the smells, the sounds, the rides, the parades...I wish I was still there.  Since I am in such a Disney mood, I thought I would share a little Minnie Mouse crochet hat I made a while back.  I made this for our a trip we took around the holidays. Because December/January nights can be a little chilly, I thought a beanie hat would be perfect - but an ordinary hat just won't do when you are in the house of the Mouse!  So I added a couple of ears and a polka dot bow.

 

I didn't use a single pattern for the hat. Instead I just pieced it together from different ideas and portions of patterns. I used this video pattern from iheatstitching to make the beanie.  To make ears I  made 4 crochet circles - 2 for each ear. I then cut 2 circles from plastic stitching canvas to go inside each ears. This will keep them from becoming droopy (that could be the name of the 8th Dwarf!). I sandwiched the plastic canvas circles between 2 crochet circles, then stitch it together all the way around using a yarn needle.  Not sure how to crochet a circle? There a LOTS of YouTube videos that will show you how.  Make them as big or as small as you like.  The bow can be any style you like. There are about a million crochet bows on Pinterest, so just pick the one you like and whip it up - then add some polka dots. The polka dots on my bow are made by adding yarn french knots.  When you have all the pieces, assemble it all together with a yarn needle for a complete Minnie Mouse hat!

Crochet Team Spirit Hats

Have you seen the Team Spirit yarn from Red Heart?  It comes in all sorts of color combos and is great for scarfs and hats.  You can make one of these fun hats with less than a skein of yarn.

Crochet Hook Container

Today I have a fun project to share with you using the newest 2 Cute Ink digital image, Crochet Cat.  It's a crochet hook container.
 

I cut the box using my Silhouette machine and found the free SVG file on the Internet.

 

This little box holds a several hooks.

Crochet Cat is colored with Copic markers.

Crochet Hook Organizer

The new year is a great time to get organized...right down to your crafty supplies.  I'm constantly having to dig around in my crochet bag to find my hooks, so I made a crochet hook organizer using a pattern I found at the blog Little Birdie Secrets. Just click on the link to get the pattern.

 

 This is the outside front.  It closes up nicely. The fabric is Alexander Henry Olive Green with Colourful Mushrooms.  I found it at Joann's.

 

 It has a place for scissors and  needles too.  I used elastic for the scissor holder.

 

There are a lot of slots for your hooks.  The pattern gives great measurements.

 

Trick or TREAT?

This is a little Halloween treat I put together for some of the ladies I crochet with.  Of course there is real candy, but I also included  a crochet Amigurumi candy corn too.  To make the cute little candy corn use the Lion Brand pattern that you can find here.

Crochet Scarf

It's starting to feel like fall in my neck of the woods, so I have been crocheting a few scarfs.  Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of all but this one.  I used Lion Brand Home Spun yarn and a Lion Brand pattern.  At the bottom I just added the fringe and made one big knot.  I found this yarn a little har to work with. Because of the curly texture, it wasn't easy to see my stitches.  I like the finished look though. Here is link to the pattern. 

 

 

Starting a Granny Square Afghan

I'm going start a bedroom re-do soon...pulling my carpet out, painting, and then rearranging the furniture.  I have decided my new room needs something in it made by me, so I am now working on  a sunburst granny square afghan to put on my bed.  I am doing it in colors that will match my room.  The green is the color I have picked for the walls.  Since I have just started, I don't have a lot to show at this point, but I'll post the progress as I go.

Easter Amigurumi

To get ready for Easter I made these cute little guys. They are crochet amigurumi figures. I had a hard time finding the correct size of eyes in my local craft stores, so if you make them, the eyes should be smaller. To make the bunny's ears pink inside, I used my scrapbook pastels, but you can also use blush or eyeshadow.
