Quick Candy Mold "HOW TO"

If you are looking for a quick and easy treat this holiday season, try making candy using candy molds. In this post I will show you how to make these cute Christmas tree light bulbs.

Here is what I used:
Candy molds, clean dry paint brush, luster dust, and candy melts.  I also used candy sticks (not pictured), but you can make them up as little candies instead of suckers if you don't have sticks.
I use 3 molds at one time, so they make up really fast...15 suckers at once.

Pour some of the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl.  Microwave for about 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until completely melted.  These molds don't have a lot of small detail, so I just spooned the melted candy into the molds.  After they are filled up, add the sticks - make sure they are covered good.  I like to tap the mold on the counter top to make sure it fills in good and so that air bubbles are out.  Put them in the refrigerator until they are cooled and solid...about 10-15 minutes. Once they have set up, you can just break the messy edges off if you have any.

Now that they have hardened, they will pop right out of the mold.  You can apply the dust right away.  You don't want the dust getting on the other suckers, so it is better to work on them individually.  I like to use a paper plate or napkin as a dusting station.  Dip your dry brush into the dust and "paint" it on by wiping across in one direction.  Go back over it to make sure the loose powder is all off.

How cute would these look in different colors like red, green, blue and yellow??

Here they are all wrapped and ready to go to a Christmas bake sale.
