Starting a Granny Square Afghan

I'm going start a bedroom re-do soon...pulling my carpet out, painting, and then rearranging the furniture.  I have decided my new room needs something in it made by me, so I am now working on  a sunburst granny square afghan to put on my bed.  I am doing it in colors that will match my room.  The green is the color I have picked for the walls.  Since I have just started, I don't have a lot to show at this point, but I'll post the progress as I go.

Gangplank Falls Scrappy Page

On our last Disney Vacation we went to Typhoon Lagoon water park.  One of my favorite slides there was Gangplank Falls because the entire family can ride together.  It was so much fun. 

I made a simple scrapbook layout using this sketch.  I really wanted to focus on the pictures, so I didn't add a lot of embellishments. The picture that looks blurry is us going through a water fall.

 The title font is called Square Rough and I used my Silhouette to cut it. The little wood plank is just brown card stock that I embossed with a Paper Studio Wood Grain embossing folder. The flowers are Prima.  The little hidden Mickey is from a punch.

Mermaid Card

Here is a simple little summer card I made for the color challenge over at the Some Odd Girl blog.  I used the "Under the Sea Mae" set.  Isn't she a cute mermaid?!? 

Here you can see the glitter bubbles on the pattern paper.  I also added some shimmer to her swim top and fin by using Smooch Ink (the color is called "pool").  Her hair and body are colored using copics. I used a pattern paper for her tail, but then added some shading with copics.

Tickets Please!

My family LOVES to go to the movies.  In fact, it is pretty normal around here to go to almost every weekend.  We also like to save and collect stuff...like movie ticket stubs.  {I tell my hubs that we are one pile of junk away from being on Hoarders. LOL!}  So when I saw this idea on Pinterest I had to do it.  It is a shadow box just for your movie tickets. Perfect for junk hoarders like me! I wanted to post a link to the original blog/website to give them credit for their wonderful idea, but the pin didn't link back. :-(  Mine is a little different than the one on Pinterest, so check out my Pin Board if you want to see the original. 

You don't need a lot of supplies for this project. I bought the shadow box at Hobby Lobby when they were 1/2 price and used paper I already had to decorate it. 



It fits nicely with my other shadow boxes.



You can add pattern paper and a title to the back panel.  I used the Quickutz handle and Sunshine font for the letters.  Another cute title option could be "Admit One".

My frame is 5x7, so it filled up pretty quick.  8x10 may be better if you have a lot of stubs.

A Royal Thank You

We just got back from a very fun vacation in Walt Disney World.  While we were gone my daughter's friend took care of her pet frogs, so we are giving her a little thank you gift.  I made the tag using the Royal stamp set from Some Odd Girl.  I just LOVE this stamp because she can be any princess you want her to be. I colored her with Copic Markers.  The words are embossed and there is a little glitter embossing around the edge of the tag too.

4 Parks, 1 World

My family will be heading to the wonderfully magical Walt Disney World in about a week.  I am so excited!!  It is all that's on my mind, so I thought I would share this scrapbook layout I did for a sketch challenge.

To give these plastic letters a pop of color, I used Copic markers to go around the edges.

National Scrapbook Weekend

It's National Scrapbook Weekend.   Have you done any scrapping?  I have not had much time to scrapbook myself, but I did manage to get one page done. This is one for a challenge using paint.
